Arthur 26th February 2018

It was a pleasure to work with John over many years 1984-87 on a BP EMRA and then 1990-97 in the Centre for Microporous Materials. I still to this day include one of his papers on zeolites from Chemistry and Industry (2nd April 1984) in my Year 3 lecture course Catalytic Reaction Engineering. Sima and I also have enjoyed dinner a few times at Belfield Road with Maureen and John. We bumped into both of them outside House of Fraser’s around 10 or more years ago – I know he was incredibly proud of us. He was kind, generous and, through his help, four of his research group have gone on to senior roles in UK universities: - Dmitry Lukyanov (Senior lecturer at Bath Chemical Engineering Dept), - Vladimir Zholobenko (SL at Chemistry and Forensic Science at Keele University), - Stuart Holmes and myself (both Readers in Chemical Engineering at UoM). Quite a legacy. My thoughts are with you all and deepest condolences on your bereavement. Arthur
