Dad was a big fan of unusual names for specific things (he loved the fact that a group of Otters cuddling each other was called a Tangle). Another of these was the right description for a sandwich which was technically too large to get into a human mouth. He always called one of these "a Dagwood", and we just accepted it was the appropriate term. But of course it was properly referenced, to one of the comics he'd loved as a youngster.
