Dad used to love singing this one. The way I remember it was that he'd been in America and heard cheerleaders singing it supporting an American football team. but it may be my recollection (or his...) that's wrong. More likely he heard it in the 1943 Lucille Ball musical Best Foot Forward. The title is 'Buckle Down Winsocki' but the next line, which was the one that made him smile, was "you can win Winsocki, if you knuckle down". Just brings back another memory of the kind of cheery optimism and energy that was so typical of yer man John Dwyer.
